FORT WORTH, Texas — Something with a little Memphis soul and a lot of Fort Worth attitude is getting ready to take flight on South Main.

The COOP, a new Memphis-inspired wing restaurant coming to 1012 S Main St. in Fort Worth, is targeting an early November 2026 opening, with the official opening date to be announced.

But the idea behind The COOP is bigger than opening another wing restaurant.

The restaurant is being built around what its founders call The COOP Standard — an approach to wings that starts before the sauce ever touches the chicken.

Fresh wings are served naked rather than breaded, seasoned before they hit the fryer, cooked for the crunch The COOP is after, and tossed to order.

Then comes the part that may take customers a while to work through:

The lineup moves from sweet and savory to spicy, hot and seriously hot, giving customers plenty of reasons to come back and try something different.

Rather than expecting first-time customers to figure out more than 32 choices on their own, The COOP has created an interactive experience called Find Your Flight.

Customers answer a few questions about the flavors they like, and the experience helps point them toward flavors that fit their tastes.

It’s part menu discovery, part personality test and part challenge to try something new.

Memphis provides much of the inspiration behind The COOP — from the food and music to the unmistakable energy and soul of the city.

But The COOP isn’t trying to recreate Memphis in Texas.

Even during construction, the project has created unexpected connections with people in the surrounding community — experiences that helped reinforce the belief that a neighborhood restaurant should contribute to the neighborhood around it.
