Every plate that leaves our kitchen carries more than sauce and seasoning. It carries the commitment of a team that believes DFW deserves a restaurant that gives back as much as it takes in. From day one, our goal has been simple: be the kind of place our community can count on — for a great meal, a friendly face, and a helping hand when it matters most.

Building The COOP has introduced us to more than a neighborhood. It’s introduced us to the people who call it home.

During our build-out on South Main, we met several people experiencing homelessness who were looking for an opportunity to work. We invited a few of them to work alongside us—and somewhere between the work, conversations and long days, we started learning their stories.

We learned how quickly circumstances can change a life. We also learned something much simpler: people want to be seen, respected and given an opportunity to contribute.

Some of the people we’ve met have become part of The COOP story. And they’ve helped shape the kind of neighbor we want The COOP to be.

Sometimes community starts by simply seeing the person in front of you.

Meet Jerry

Some people just have a way of showing up.

We met Jerry during the build-out of The COOP.

At first, he was simply someone from the neighborhood looking for an opportunity to work. So we gave him one. It didn’t take long before we realized Jerry was bringing a lot more than an extra set of hands.

He’s kind. He’s hardworking. He’s thoughtful. And he may be one of the most resourceful people we’ve ever met.

One day, we were hanging a banner and realized we needed zip ties. We mentioned it out loud, and before anyone could figure out who was making the hardware-store run, Jerry reached into his backpack.

Zip ties.

We couldn’t believe it.

The funny thing is, that wasn’t the last time.

Again and again during the build-out, we’d suddenly need some random little thing—and somehow Jerry would dig into that backpack and have exactly what we needed. It got to the point where we’d just look at each other and laugh:

“How does Jerry always have this stuff?”

But that’s Jerry.

He figures things out. He pays attention. And he finds a way to be useful.

Jerry is currently experiencing homelessness. Yet what stands out when you’re around him isn’t what he doesn’t have. It’s what he brings with him every day: a willingness to work, a thankful spirit, a smile and a genuine desire to help.

Getting to know Jerry has challenged us to look beyond circumstances and see the person.

Because a person’s current situation doesn’t tell you everything about who they are, what they can contribute or what they still have ahead of them.

Jerry came to help us build a restaurant.

Along the way, he helped shape what we want The COOP to stand for.

Meeting Jerry and others during our build-out made something clear to us: being part of a neighborhood means more than opening a restaurant in it. It means seeing the people around you and finding ways to create opportunity where you can.

That’s why COOP Cares will seek relationships with shelters, workforce organizations and community partners working to connect people with jobs, resources and opportunity.

Youth & Sports

We believe in fueling the next generation. From Little League teams to high school athletics, we show up for young people who are building grit, teamwork, and pride in our community.

Education & Opportunity

Supporting pathways to employment, job readiness and greater opportunity.

Food Access & Neighbors

We want to support local efforts that help neighbors access meals, practical resources and pathways toward greater stability.

Local Causes

DFW is our home. When local families, first responders, or community organizations need support, we're ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work.

How We Show Up

We are brand new, but our commitment is not. Here is how COOP Cares plans to show up from day one:

Sponsor local youth sports teams and school events
Host fundraising nights for DFW schools and nonprofits
Donate meals to first responders during emergencies
Explore meal-support relationships with area food banks
Offer meeting space for community groups and clubs

We’re interested in building relationships with local shelters, workforce organizations and community partners working to connect people with opportunity.
